April 3, 2009 My speakers are back from being re-coned. First I want to thank Mr. George Barmaksezian from JBL Professional 8400 Balboa Blvd. Northridge, CA for taking a personal interest and understanding to help me with my JBL 4343 Studio Monitors speakers and getting them repaired properly.
I really cannot say enough about Jeff Keel Chief Systems Engineer / Service Center Manager that re-coned the speakers. I have to tell you, the JBL Pro Service Center I was asked to take the speakers to is the BEST. Jeff Keel lives and breathes JBL/Harman I think he bleeds orange. He spent two hours answering questions giving advice over many subjects pertaining to my speakers. You could not ask for more friendly people that Sam Walton and Jeff Kell. They even have personalized Michigan license plates on their cars of JBLPRO, JBLPRO1, JBLPRO2, JBLPRO3, JBLWIFE and JBLTECH that I saw. Jeff Keel knows vintage speaker systems extremely well and did a great job repairing my speakers and keeping the original parts removed to give to me to document the life of the speakers. Now I have the original boxes that the cones came in with the old original cones removed in the box with a CD of all the photos of the speakers on it. I am so happy I got them repaired. I finally got the speakers setup and ready to run again and put on Thelma Houston “I’ve got the Music in Me” from the master disc (the same record I listened to when I bought the speakers) and it brought tears to my eyes just overwhelmed I had forgot what music really sounded like. The second record was Sessions 1973 from JBL.
April 5, 2009 I was told there were only 50 made a year. I cannot find documentation but
they started to make them in 1976.
